Hungary: Workshop on the bystander effect

Flag of Hungary

This workshop will examine the barriers that exist to offering help to others in group contexts, especially in contexts of racism and discrimination against foreigners. Real-life situations and short films will be presented in order to promote discussion among participants.

The target group for the workshop is mainly school professionals, staff of local municipalities and staff of local NGOs. It is especially relevant to those who have ever wanted to help in a public situation but didn't dare to take the first step, those who have ever wanted to stand up for someone but couldn't express their support, and those who feel that we all have a responsibility to help people in need.

The workshop will be held in person on 20 February (15:00-18:00) and 22 February (15:00-18:00) in Budapest, and will be offered in Hungarian only. It is being organised as part of European project 'City for Everybody - Building Responsible Action for Inclusive Local Communities' (CIFER), which aims to better understand and address racism, xenophobia, and discrimination against people with a migrant background.
