The Vietnamese community in Poland, Vietnamese graduates of Polish universities and the VIFON Vietnam company have brought a large shipment of medical supplies from Vietnam to fight COVID-19 and donated the supplies to Polish hospitals.
The gift included 4,100 COVID-19 tests, 1,000 protective suits for medical personnel and a large number of gloves. This is not a one-off action. Vietnamese people in Poland are also providing hospitals and other public institutions with two-layer cotton protective gear, sewn by members of the Vietnamese community, as well as other protective materials such as gloves or disinfectants.
Moreover, numerous Vietnamese restaurants are delivering free meals, food and drinks to hospitals as part of the action #WNJestzWami (Vietnam is with you). Disposable masks and protective gloves are also being distributed in the streets. In addition, three informational phone lines for Vietnamese people with low knowledge of Polish language have been launched.
The aid is organised by the Committee for Combating Coronavirus Sars-Cov-2, set up by four Vietnamese organisations—Association of Vietnamese in Poland, Buddhist Society in Poland, Association for Entrepreneurship Support in Wólka Kosowska ‘Wólka Center’ and Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs in Poland.
