The ''Welcoming Europe" conference at Utrecht University will examine how migration intersects with demographic trends.
Moving beyond polarised debates on whether migration is the solution, the conference aims to unravel the complex relationships between migration and global ageing, depopulation and rural-urban transformation. Based on findings from previous research and projects, the conference will offer recommendations for achieving ‘spatial justice’ and ensuring inclusivity.
The event will see various panel discussion with academics, policymakers, and practitioners, facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge sharing to create more effective migration policies that address demographic challenges and opportunities.
