A government inquiry, submitted to the deputy education minister on Wednesday, states that newly arrived migrants should be required to sign up for Swedish language learning courses (SFI) within a year of their arrival in the country. The courses should also be limited to two years and be made more flexible. Changes to be made include teaching methods, improved documentation and individually adapted courses. Swedish for immigrants (SFI) is available to migrants aged 16 and above who do not have some basic knowledge of Swedish.
