The 8th Biennial Afroeuropeans Network Conference, Intersectional challenges in Afroeuropean communities will take place from 22 - 24 September in Brussels, Belgium.

The event is described as “an academic, activist, and intellectual space centering Blackness in Europe—including, but not limited to, Black identity, Black art, Black politics and Black struggle”. It is being organised with, by and for Afro-Europeans, in dialogue with other marginalised groups and with the support of allies.

Keynote speakers will be Olivette Otele (University of London), Mireille-Tsheusi Robert (Bamko), and Kehinde Andrews (University of Birmingham, Harambee Organisation of Black Unity).

The event will be hosted by Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), in conjunction with the Africa Platform of Ghent University Association (GAP), the Brussels Centre for Urban Studies (BCUS), the European Network Against Racism (ENAR), the Brussels Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Migration and Minorites (BIRMM), the Research Centre Gender, Diversity and Intersectionality (RHEA) and the Centre for Literary and Intermedial Crossings at VUB, as well as numerous Belgian researchers and activists.
