Belgian universities act to help refugees

Title

Teachers, students, and researchers from the Free University of Brussels (ULB) have joined in a movement to fight prejudice linked to migration. With the organisation Conseil Jeunesse Développement, they are volunteering in secondary schools to discuss the topic with young people.

This is not the first such effort on the part of Belgian universities. Previously, ULB organised a welcome desk to help solve problems in registration for refugee students. The Flemish Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) offered housing in collaboration with the city of Leuven and the Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers and also made it easier for refugees to gain access to its research institutes and scientific facilities.

Another example can be found at the French-speaking Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), which organised trainings and edited a dedicated guide for refugees to help them in their academic journeys. Read more about the ULB project
