On 19 March, the City of Vienna started developing the Vienna Charter as a new and unique form of citizens' participation in Europe. Today, 27 November 2012, the text of the Vienna Charter was presented in a press conference by Deputy Mayor Maria Vassilakou and Councillor Sandra Frauenberger. I

n its introduction, the Vienna Charter notes: 'Vienna is home: For women and men, young and old, those born here and immigrants, for people with different world views, lifestyles and needs. It takes respect to get on well together. Respect means accepting other people as they are - as you yourself want to be accepted and respected. Human rights are our common ground.'
