Migration of Ukrainian Students to the Czech Republic: human capital perspectives

Title

Student migration around the world has been addressed by many academics, politicians, and both governmental and non-governmental organisations. But in the Czech context, despite the increasing number of international students, this type of migration has not yet received the deserved attention from scholars.

Recent developments suggest that the Czech Republic is gradually becoming an attractive destination for foreign students, especially for Slovaks and students from Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Although Ukrainians are the largest immigrant group in the country, student migration from Ukraine remains insufficiently researched and described.

This research paper therefore explores the main characteristics and motives of Ukrainian students in the Czech Republic. It furthermore aims to describe the legal and institutional settings in the Czech Republic related to student migration in general.
