The CinaMI project offers Italian language courses to Chinese adults, focussing on the language used in the labour areas where participants are involved (restaurants, wellness, commerce), adding information on civic education, hygiene and job security. During the project, participants will be tested in order to be prepared for the driving-licence exam and the language exam for a long-term residence permit.
Project Goal
The project aims at better involving Chinese adults living in Milan in Italian courses, thanks to an agreement with Chinese associations working in the city area and a specific training programme focussed on Chinese needs.
Specific goals:
- To strengthen skills in the Italian language (both A1 and A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference) as minimum integration requirements according to new laws (i.e. Integration Agreement);
- To introduce into language courses the subjects of hygiene, job security and management of small firms, as required by Chinese associations due to the strong involvement of Chinese immigrants in business;
- To give them a few notions of civic education as a minimum requirement for being active citizens;
- To improve their driving-licence exam success rate;
- To support e-learning through a computing platform;
- To train both Italian and Chinese teachers in how to teach Italian to illiterate Chinese adults;
- To define models and procedures for involving Chinese with the collaboration of cultural mediators;
- To inform the Chinese community of Italian laws on residence and work permits and to increase training opportunities;
- To strengthen the network among the project partners and Chinese associations through common initiatives;
- To implement documentation dealing with the projects.
