My job, my future - with training to success!

An important basis for a successful career choice is the sufficient knowledge of possible pathways, entry requirements, earning potential and career opportunities. The project is intended to show young people with a migration background their chances on the German training market.

Project Goal

The aim of the project is to inform children and parents with an immigrant background on educational and professional qualifications as well as to show the importance of the German education system. Education, occupation and employment are to be displayed as part of the information campaign as a key prerequisite for successful social and economic integration as well as personal well-being. In this case, access to a variety of professions and employment opportunities should be identified.

How it works

In order to achieve the project aim an information campaign under the slogan "My job, my future. Using training to succeed!" will be carried out in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). During information events "role models" (apprentices and skilled workers) will report about their own career. The campaign aims to show everyday life and different ways of professional integration. During all events there is the possibility to interact and to have a personal consultation. Additionally, an accompanying booklet is created that processes the contents of the events in several languages. A perticularity of the project is the cooperation with migrant organizations throughout NRW. These are hosting information sessions and invite parents and young people to attend.

Results

In the first half of 2013 five events were carried out successfully. Many other events are being planned and will take place in the coming months. An overview is available on the project website www.meine-zukunft-nrw.de.
