Poland: Foreigners in social security

This is the sixth and final debate in the "Between Science and Practice" meeting series, designed to disseminate knowledge in the field of social policy and promote discussion on key Polish development issues in the context of social policy and the transfer of knowledge between the academic and policy worlds. It is being organised by Instytut Pracy i Spraw Socjalnych, a research institute in Warsaw.

The event will see representatives of Poland's Institute of Labour and Social Affairs, the Statistical Office in Bydgoszcz, and the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs give presentations on the situation of foreigners in the Polish labour market, with special focus on foreigners in the social security system. There will also be a panel discussion with the participation of Professor Gertruda Uścińska from the Institute of Labour and Social Affairs, Janina Owczarek from the International Organization for Migration, Professor Paweł Kaczmarczyk, Director of the Centre of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw, and Dr Andrzej Szybkie from the Social Insurance Institution.

The debate is supported by the "Social Responsibility of Science" programme of the Minister of Science.
