Highlights

The European Commission (EC)'s call for proposals for project grants funded by its Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) is ongoing. The call covers 6 topics directly related to the goals of the EU's 2021-2027 Action plan for integration and inclusion.

News

Poland launched an online portal in 7 languages to help foreigners complete residency applications and better understand migration procedures.

 

The Czech government announced the appointment of a new national coordinator for the integration and adaptation of those displaced from Ukraine, the creation of regional coordinator positions across the country, and changes in the management of the network of regional assistance centres for Ukraine.

 

The Research Centre on Migration in the Mediterannean (MEDI) launched a call for papers for its 5th annual conference, with focus on issues pertinent to integration including labour exploitation, entrepreneurship and social mobility, xenophobia and racism, and migrant networks, associationism and participation.

 

Funding opportunities

A new grant programme was announced which is to support projects promoting fair and inclusive access to care and education for children fleeing the war in Ukraine, as well as disabled children, children from socially disadvantaged environments, and their parents and guardians.

Das Bocholter Forum beschäftigt sich im Rahmen von Diskussionen, Vorträgen und Arbeitsgruppen mit aktuellen Fragestellungen der Integrations- und Migrationspolitik.

 

Die Speyerer Sozialrechtstage der Deutschen Universität für Verwaltungswissenschaften widmen sich dem Themenfeld Migration und Verwaltung. Die Tagung nimmt die Leistungen nach dem AsylbLG, dem SGB II und dem SGB XII in den Blick, insbesondere Leistungsausschlüsse und -einschränkungen. Diskutiert werden zudem spezifische Anforderungen an die Amtsermittlung, die Sozialplanung sowie die interkulturell sensible Kommunikation im Verwaltungsverfahren. 

 

Integration practices

DOPOMOHA.RO is a digital humanitarian assistance platform launched in February 2022 by Code for Romania. It offers those displaced by the war in Ukraine who are now in Romania access to reliable, up to date information and resources, and helps authorities to manage available accommodation and emergency support for chronically ill or pregnant refugees.

 

This project uses three educational, portable "escape rooms" to educate young people around issues of xenophobia and intolerance, and to provide teachers and youth leaders with related lesson tools.

 

Refoodgees provides participants with professional training in the Belgian hotel and catering industry, supporting them in establishing their own professional and social networks.

 

Documents and publications

The European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) published an updated, non-exhaustive information sheet giving an overview of the implementation of the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD) - and national equivalents - in 34 countries in response to the displacement of people from Ukraine across Europe.

 

The eighth part of research series The Voice of Ukrainians in the Czech Republic follows up research carried out in 2022, which focused on the work, housing and poverty of those displaced from Ukraine in the Czech Republic.

 

The Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) issued a briefing that examines the relationship between migration and the labour market in Italy in 2021. A key finding is that more than 50% of foreigners moved to Italy for labour reasons in 2021 (56.3%), followed by those who migrated for family reasons (40.3%).
