The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration (MISSM), the Generalitat Valenciana, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Spain (UNHCR) and social entities Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes España, Cáritas Diocesana Orihuela-Alicante, Cáritas Diocesana Segorbe-Castelló and Cáritas Diocesana Valencia will develop a pilot programme - the Pilot Experience of Community Sponsorship - for the reception of refugees in five Valencian municipalities. It is to receive 23 people - five Syrian families - currently living in refugee camps in Lebanon.

The Reception and Integration Project of each Sponsorship Agreement Holder Entity and the Local Community Sponsorship Group must present an integration strategy for the support of the Beneficiaries of International Protection involved within the framework of the project in order to achieve the main objective: to facilitate the best possible process of autonomy and independence for the new arrivals through this pilot programme, by supporting their integration and participation in the host society.

Upon arrival in Spain, after reception in MISSM facilities, beneficiaries will move to host municipalities to begin their itinerary under the Pilot Experience of Community Sponsorship.

The initiative includes provision of accommodation and food, development of a social network and strategy for language learning, job training and job seeking support, basic psychological care and interpretation, translation and legal advice. This will all be delivered through collaboration between the Local Community Sponsorship Group and the Vice-Presidency and Regional Ministry of Equality and Inclusive Policies, in collaboration with other institutions.
