Since 2009, the City of Oslo has offered training courses aimed at Muslims who have been unemployed for long periods of time as a result of difficulties finding work for religious reasons - for instance the perceived inability to work in shops selling pork or alcohol. According to an information booklet created by the municipality, if the job itself is halal, it is not a problem to work in such stores.
Course providers now intend to work with mosques to publicise the trainings.
