Malta: New course in rethinking school practices for diverse classrooms

Flag of Malta

The Institute for Education in Malta is offering a free course entitled "Award in rethinking school practices for diverse classrooms", designed to promote the professional development of school staff and educators in diverse environments (for example in classrooms with migrant students). It will be delivered online in November 2022.

The course has 3 key goals:

  1. To aid teachers in becoming acquainted with the difficulties experienced by migrant students
  2. To support educators with embracing intercultural learning in their teaching approaches
  3. To promote the involvement of migrant families in their children's educational programmes

Course lectures will take place four times a week, for a period of two weeks. Certificates will be awarded digitally upon completion. Potential applicants can register their interest online until 2 November.

The course, which is free to attend, was created as part of a joint project between the Migrant Learners' Unit Malta and IOM Malta. The project, funded by the European Union via the Structural Reform Support Programme, provides technical support to the Migrant Learners’ Unit (MLU) within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation (MEYR) in order to improve the inclusion of migrant learners within mainstream education in Malta.
