Greece: National Research on Adaptation of Foreigners

Untitled

Living between two homelands, they do not reject any of them. The 7 out of 10 immigrants living in Greece are trying to combine the culture of their country of origin with the culture of their country of migration. And if we compare all the categories of immigrants, those are the people who have higher income, better housing, fewer general health problems and satisfactory proficiency of the Greek language.
These are the conclusions of a nationwide survey for the psychosocial adaptation of the migrants. The research project included 1,843 immigrants from 35 countries and was funded by the European Integration Fund and partly from national funds. The project was completed in cooperation between the Department of Psychology and the Laboratory for the Study of Migration and Diaspora at the University of Athens, the Greek Statistical Authority, the Migration Policy Institute and the International Organization for Migration.
