Since 2020 the NordForsk, an organisation run by the Nordic Council which finances and facilitates Nordic cooperation in research and research infrastructure, has funded seven international research projects on migration and integration with researchers from all the Nordic countries and the UK.
The "Ukrainian refugees and the Nordics" report is a compilation of articles based on research carried out within these seven projects, plus one additional project that was funded in a previous call. The articles present results and analysis which could help societal actors to better understand the needs of refugees from Ukraine. They are research-led best practices on how to cater for Ukrainian refugees arriving in the Nordic Region.
According to the NordForsk, "Ukrainian refugees ought to be met by professional services with expertise and capabilities in many fields. Many of those who are responsible for planning and designing the services should have the latest knowledge about migration and integration issues, enabling them to plan and organise the refugees’ arrival and integration in the best way possible". The report has been produced with this as an aim.
