The publication is meant to help practitioners and host communities understand and address the mental health and psycho-social needs of refugees throughout the resettlement cycle, including in terms of post-arrival integration.
The report explores the separate stages of the resettlement process, paying attention to the specific psycho-social stressors refugees may face during each of them. Particularly interesting are the five annexes offering concrete guidelines on:
- Basic psychological skills for resettlement staff;
- Working with cultural mediators and interpreters;
- Key principles for promoting psycho-social well-being in the resettlement context;
- Key messages for refugees during the resettlement process;
- Key messages for the host community members
The publucation was developed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) under the project COMMIT - Facilitating the integration of resettled refugees in Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Spain funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
