The guide analyses the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and the Global Compact on Refugees and fleshes out the measures foreseen in them for the protection of children. The guide's purpose is to help (non-)governmental organisations and individuals working on the protection of children in migration to make use of the compacts within their daily work.
The guide comes in the form of a self-learning tool, to be read in its entirety or consulted by subject, including:
- children's rights in general;
- non-discrimination;
- the best interest of children;
- (the right to an) identity;
- (the right to) non-detention;
- protection against different forms of violence;
- the right to be heard and the right to participation;
- health
The publication also offers advice for the practical implementation of the global compacts.
The guide is through Destination Unknown, a global network of organisations and individual working to protect children on the move, led by the Terre des Hommes International Federation.
