This publication presents the results of a survey on the situation of pupils with insufficient knowledge of the Czech language in primary schools in Prague. The survey was conducted during the 2020 - 2021 academic year as part of the School as an Integration Partner project, which is implemented by the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in cooperation with Prague City Hall.
The document gives a graphical overview of statistical data on the number of pupils for whom Czech is not their mother tongue in Prague's primary schools and in the administrative districts of Prague. It also analyses the level of Czech language proficiency of pupils and the resulting level of support needed, the use of existing support tools in schools and the sources of their funding.
The findings of the survey will serve to better establish integration measures in the city of Prague and to improve communication between schools, municipal districts and Prague City Hall. The outputs of the project will be presented at an online conference on 30 November, and lessons learned can be transferred to other areas or initiatives elsewhere in the country.
The document can be read in Czech here.
