Naturalisation Campaign

The Naturalisation Campaign aims at attracting non-German population (especially young foreigners) to apply for German citizenship. Using posters, leaflets and brochures, the advantages of having German citizenship are presented to young immigrants.

Project Goal

Naturalisation figures in Germany as a whole and in Berlin have constantly fallen since the year 2000. The campaign aims at stopping this trend and at raising the numbers of those that decide to become German citizens with full political and social rights.

Who benefits

  • All immigrants.
  • Young immigrants will gain full political participation. Identification with Berlin and Germany will rise once the person is naturalised.

How it works

The campaign is run by the Commissioner for Integration and Migration. Posters are put up in public places, at bus stops etc., brochures are handed out in public institutions, material is used in schools and other places where young immigrants gather.

Results

The Naturalisation figures have risen in 2006 in Berlin for the first time in six years.
