The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has opened nominations for the Calouste Gulbenkian International Prize. This year the Prize will be awarded to individuals or non profit organisations that have made a valuable impact and commitment towards inter-cultural, inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue and the respect for difference.

With prize money to the tune of €100,000, the award will distinguish an individual or institution whose thoughts or actions make a decisive contribution to and have significant impact on understanding, defending or fostering the universal values of the human condition in the field of intercultural dialogue or respect for biodiversity.

Prize recipients from previous years in the field of intercultural dialogue include the Peace Research Institute in the Middle East (PRIME), the United Nations High-Commissioner for the Refugees (UNHCR) and the Hand in Hand Center for Jewish-Arab Education.

Applications are open until 15 March 2011. For more information please read the regulations or contact Rui Gonçalves at rgoncalves@gulbenkian.pt.
