Slovakia: Local governments and the integration of refugees and migrants

Flag of Slovakia

The Centre for the Research of Ethnicity and Culture (CVEK), in collaboration with UNHCR, is organising a conference entitled "Local governments and the integration of refugees and migrants: experiences, challenges, needs" on 13 December in Bratislava.

The conference will highlight various good practices resulting from CVEK's intensive collaboration with selected municipalities (Senec, Trnava, Trenčín, and Žilina) on the integration of migrant and refugee communities.

During the event, a manual for collecting statistical data on migrants and refugees and an ethical code for working with these groups will be presented. The organisers will also discuss the successes and challenges faced by the municipalities involved.

Special attention will be given to the importance of participatory approaches in local integration policies, emphasising the need to actively involve refugee and migrant communities in these processes.

Registration is open until 27 November.
