The Nordic Council of Ministers, the Tartu Welcome Centre and the University of Tartu will host the 2024 Northern and Baltic Migration Conference On 7 November. This year's conference is entitled 'Are We entering an era of stricter migration restrictions?' and will explore the evolving landscape of migration policies in Europe and Estonia.
Key topics of focus will be current and future trends in European migration policies, the legal interpretation of refugee and mass migration issues, and the impact of stricter migration regulations on societal needs and economic pressures. The experience and future direction of Estonia's Tartu Welcome Centre will also be a focal point, marking its 5th anniversary.
The conference will additionally emphasise the importance of cooperation in the Nordic and Baltic regions in addressing migration and integration challenges.
The event will be primarily in Estonian, with some presentations in English.
