Malta: Environmental Migration Film Festival 2023

Flag of Malta

Friends of the Earth Malta will host the 2023 Environmental Film Festival on 4-5 February as part of the Ċine’Ambjent film initiative.

Climate change causes 20 million people to be displaced from their home or country every year. The aim of this event is to bring awareness to local communities in Malta of the issue of climate-induced migration, through thought-provoking films.

On 4 February there will be a screening of Thank You For the Rain (2017) and Uma: A Water Crisis in Bolivia (2021), plus a post-screening discussion and party. The party will be catered by the Migrant Women’s Association, which works to promote the integration of migrant women in Malta. On 5 February the festival will continue with a screening of Anote’s Ark (2018) and Delikado (2022). These documentaries show how the climate crisis creates mass displacement in different areas of the world. Each film will be followed by a discussion with experts.

All profits raised will be donated to Friends of the Earth Malta. Register to reserve a ticket.
