Countering misinformation: a multi-stakeholder partnership approach to COVID-19 information provision for refugee and migrant populations

Untitled

The first in a series of webinars hosted by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), in partnership with the US Mission to the European Union, will take place online on 6 May 2021.

The event will explore the role that public and private partnerships can play in supporting information provision for refugee and migrant populations, drawing on best practices and experiences from the U.S. and Europe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There will be an initial discussion by a panel of speakers from civil society, national government and the EU, followed by ‘breakout’ sessions. Breakout session discussions will focus on:

  • How multi-stakeholder partnerships at the local level can support equitable access to healthcare for refugees and migrants. Our discussion will feature promising practices from the Pima County Health Department in Tucson in this regard;
  • Lessons learned from the National Resource Center for Refugees, Immigrants and Migrants, in addressing the unique barriers that refugees and migrants face to COVID-19 prevention and mitigation. This work was undertaken with support from the Center for Disease Control and IOM and is led by the University of Minnesota in partnership with the IRC.
