In Brussels, many young migrants face significant challenges when dealing with different issues while interacting with public institutions. The socio-political environment can be complex for a newcomer, even with the help of specialised associations who assist and orient migrants every day. Those working in the social sector, providing daily support to these young individuals, need to be able to navigate complex institutional and legal obstacles. Divisions between federal, regional, and community responsibilities, for example, as well as the existence of multiple organisational structures, can provide a real obstacle to offering young migrants proper, personnalised assistance.
With this in mind, Le Forum - Bruxelles contre les inégalités, the Conseil Bruxellois de Coordination Sociopolitique (CBCS) and the Coordination et Initiatives pour Réfugiés et étrangers (CIRé) are organising “Quel Accueil!” on Thursday 23 November. The event will see workshops, debates and conferences.
"Quel Accueil!" is aimed at migrant minors and their families, students, people working in the social sector, teachers, and anyone else seeking deeper comprehension of integration policies in Brussels and of how relevant available services could be improved. The event will mainly focus on four dimensions: legal/administrative, educational, gender, and mental/social health. The goal is to listen to those professionals dealing daily with young migrants in order to better understand their needs and good practices.
The event has a registration fee of €35; €5 for students or those who are unemployed. It is sponsored by Commission communautaire française de la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale and Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
