Swedish government-funded independent committee Delmi (the Migration Studies Delegation) announced that it will fund a number of new projects in the autumn of 2021, with the deadline for application submission on 15 September. 

Delmi was formed in November 2013 following a decision by the Swedish Government. The committee initiates studies and conducts research in the field of migration, as a basis for future migration policy decisions and in order to contribute to the public debate on migration.

In terms of eligibility requirements for the calls, the committee stipulated that it is important that projects are "written in order to reach a wider audience", but "subject areas and themes vary and can target several academic disciplines, [and] projects can vary in terms of size, time frames and budget".

Focus areas of the calls:

• Comparative study of the regulations surrounding people seeking protection in EU countries (in Swedish only);
• A Research overview on labour migration during crises and the implications for research on COVID-19 and migration;
• A research overview of "the shadow society", meaning the group of irregular migrants that live in Sweden (in Swedish only);
• A research overview on asylum processes for LGBTQ persons from a European perspective.
