
Immigrant candidates in the provincial elections of March 2, 2011 were very successful. The Utrechter Ali Essousi of the Labour Party received so many votes that he climbed from 14th place to 3rd on the list. (…)Yet according to research commissioned by FORUM, the Dutch Institute for Multicultural Affairs, the ethnic origin of the candidate is not the crucial factor in the voting behaviour of immigrants.
