Finland: New programme to prepare immigrant students for high school

HS: Racist crimes decline

Finnish education officials want to ensure that immigrant students complete their high school education. The Ministry of Education and Culture is currently hammering out a bill that would provide non-Finnish students with a one-year programme to prepare them for upper secondary school.

Roughly half of Finnish and Swedish-Finnish students go on to complete a high school education, while just a quarter of non-Finnish residents do, according to data from Statistics Finland.
