The cards, with simple pictures, focus on aiding communication with people, including immigrants, who have communication problems.
Project Goal
A lack of communication was noticed between doctors and patients in the hospital due to physical or language barriers. For this reason the multilingual and picture cards were created.
The goal of the project is to improve communication between doctors and patients in the hospital, speed up the treatment and prevent problems caused by wrong diagnosis.
Who benefits
Employers of Hospital (doctors and nurses), patients (including immigrants).
How it works
There are 200 cards with various pictures and language mutations. Among the cards, you can find photographs of towels, phones etc., which can be used ostensively, or you can create simple sentences from the cards as in: “You cannot use sugar” or “Do you have money to pay?” The expressions are translated into 6 languages (German, English, Polish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese and Mongolian) below every picture. Doctors use the cards when communicating with patients.

Furthermore, the use of cards has been extended to other departments at the Hospital Pardubice and other hospitals are also interested in using the cards in their work.
