The Center for Cultural Dialogue (CKD) in Croatia launched the MigrationMedia(tor) project, in partnership with Jagiellonian University from Krakow, the Migration Museum from Gdynia, and the NGO Warsaw Multicultural Center.
MigrationMedia(tor) is a 2-year project that will be implemented simultaneously in Poland and Croatia, aiming to promote European Union values such as equality and the protection of fundamental human rights, and is focused on:
- raising awareness of the phenomenon of migration, human rights, and multiculturalism;
- analysing the impact of media on the perception of migration;
- empowering migrants and helping to make their voices heard.
Project activities include monitoring and evaluating narratives about migration, comparative research, human rights workshops, education, international conferences, publications, and a summer school for youth with a migrant background. Given recent focus on the so-called "refugee crisis", ecological and climate migration, and economic migration, such projects ultimately contribute to better understanding of migration and the impact the media has on shaping young people's perceptions of migration.
