The European Commission (EC) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) launched an open call for civil society organisations interested in participating in the 9th European Migration Forum (EMF). The forum, entitled 'Enhancing the role of civil society in implementing the Pact on Migration and Asylum', will take place on 28 - 29 November 2024 in Brussels.
Expressions of interest in participation must be submitted by 12 September 2024.
The EMF is a platform for dialogue between civil society and European institutions on issues related to migration, asylum, and migrant integration. The overall aim of the forum is to enhance coordination and cooperation between key players involved in the multilevel European governance of migration.
The specific aim of this year's forum is to bring civil society organisations together to discuss and engage with EU Member States and policymakers on challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum.
This call aims to select civil society organisations working in at least 1 of the 4 areas of the pact listed below:
- Ensuring adequate reception conditions.
- The changes introduced by the Qualification Regulation.
- The new permanent solidarity mechanism.
- The action plan on integration and inclusion 2021 - 2027.
Organisations will be selected based on the relevance of their activities and expertise. Additionally, the selection procedure will ensure a balanced geographical representation of the participants, as well as the diversity of fields of expertise, activities and types of organisations.
