The ‘healthcare for newcomers’ conference, organised by Kenniscentrum Global Health, will take place in the Netherlands on 9 October.
The event will bring together different healthcare organisations and policymakers who are committed to providing care for vulnerable newcomers, including undocumented individuals, asylum seekers, and labor migrants. The conference will examine medical treatment and public health, focusing on care for both children and adults.
People who are 'undocumented', asylum seekers and labour migrants are some of the most vulnerable in society in the Netherlands, often facing unique health risks because of their home country and migration history. Access to and experiences within the Dutch healthcare system also differs for each of these groups, so it’s important to provide care that fits their specific needs.
This symposium will demonstrate how different organisations play important roles in healthcare access and experience for these groups, and will discuss what can be done to improve the quality of care offered to them. The event will provide great opportunity to learn from experts, share experiences, and build partnerships that can make a big difference in the care provided to newcomers.
