Bridging the democracy gap: How can we make political participation more inclusive and accessible to everyone?

The MILE project, in collaboration with the European Parliament (EP), is inviting civil society actors, policymakers, researchers and communicators to an event exploring how collaboration and community engagement can help make civic engagement and political participation more inclusive and accessible to all.

Join the three interactive sessions, with contributions from civil society, research and policymakers, to exchange ideas on promoting the political participation and civic engagement of underrepresented groups in the EU. The programme includes:

  • 13:30-14:00: Registration and coffee
  • 14:00-14:15: Introduction and welcome remarks (EP and MILE)
  • 14:15-15:10: Sharing session with UNITEE | How can we better understand and overcome participation obstacles faced by underrepresented groups? With contributions from:
    • Dursa Mama Kadu, Board Member, Voicify, The European Forum for Youth with Lived Migration Experiences
    • Chaka Welch, Anti-Racism Coordinator, #DiasporaVote!
    • Tamam Abusalama, Communications Officer, European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE)
  • 15:10-15:20: Coffee break
  • 15:20-16:20: Interactive workshop with New Women Connectors - Harnessing the power of collaboration and diversity: How to promote inclusive participation and social justice by connecting different communities’ needs and visions? With contributions from:
    • Seyran Khalili – Project Lead at New Women Connectors
    • Angeline Green – Administrative and Project Assistant
  • 16:20-16:30: Coffee break
  • 16:30-17:30: Future Lab by INTEGRIM LAB - Beyond elections: How can the EU best support civil society and promote local democracy and migrant inclusion?

The MILE project is an initiative funded by the European Commission's Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) that promotes the political participation and local inclusion of migrants and refugees. Register online.
