The interpreting service provides 17 languages from third countries with a focus on transcultural awareness.
It is free of charge until the end of 2010.

To provide an interpreter in social and medical services.
Who benefits
- First of all migrants who receive help to manage better their situation
- and the institutions.
How it works
A memorandum of partnership with the concerned institutions has been signed.
The interpreters who come from different cultural communities receive a specific training by French experts on for instance deontology.
The institutions can make an appointment with teh interpretor through ASTI. In urgent cases they can be reached by mobile phone.
Results
In a certain number of hospitals quite a lot of persuasion was necessary, meanwhile all the hospitals of Luxembourg signed the memorandum of partnership.
The service is regularly used.
Evaluation
Four times a year there is an evaluation session with all the interpreters.
Currently there are negociations to be able to offer the service beyond de EUfinance period i.e. beyond the year 2010.

European fund of integration for third country nationals and funding from the governement of Luxembourg for EU citizens.
