‘Good practices’ can be defined in multiple ways. However, a thread common to most definitions implies strategies, approaches and/or activities that have been shown through research and evaluation to be effective, efficient, sustainable and/or transferable, and to reliably lead to a desired result.
Good practices on the EWSI are collected through a template, which has been developed specifically to that effect and comprises all the information needed to judge whether the practice is adaptable to other contexts.
Selecting good practices
We take pride in providing EWSI users with good practices of integration which are of very high quality. In order to achieve this, we have had to lay down eligibility and selection criteria, so as to make sure that we end up only with what really works in the field.
For an integration practice to be eligible, it has to:
- Have a clear context description
- Have a clear description of the objectives and purposes
- Have a clear description of the actions/activities involved
- Be at least one year old
Then, for the integration practice to be selected, it has to:
- Comply with the EWSI’s editorial policy, including the main communication message which the Web Site conveys
- Be relevant and appropriate to the Web Site. In particular, the following is checked:
- does the practice meet clearly identified needs?
- does the practice engage stakeholders and target groups?
- Have sufficient indication of transferability. In particular, the following is checked:
- Does the practice continue after the initial phase?
- Does the practice attract structural funding, support from new sponsors or generate its own resources?
- Does the practice show potential for replication in different contexts and towards different target groups?
