Portugal: AMIF funding to attract third-country nationals

The Portuguese Ministry of Internal Administration is now accepting funding applications for projects to develop a proactive third-country nationals (TCN) attraction policy with a focus on employment.


This funding opportunity is made available through the EU's Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). The total amount available is €1 000 000.


The successful actions will focus on:

  1. Measures to attract those TCNs whose skills correspond to the needs of the Portuguese labour market, as well as those who, through their talent and entrepreneurial actions, would help create further job opportunities and advance research and development;
  2. Information and communications activities in the countries of origin, promoting regular migration, providing information on job opportunities, entrepreneurship, study, research and sports in Portugal, as well as promoting the prevention and combating of irregular migration and its harmful consequences such as violence, exploitation and trafficking of human beings;
  3. Creation or improvement of information systems in the country of origin in order to facilitate the future reception, integration, as well as the combating of various forms of exploitation and violence against TCNs in the Portuguese society;
  4. Creation of local networks integrating different actors such as municipalities, business associations, NGOs, universities, and schools; these actors should implement the actions above

Approved projects may benefit from a maximum co-financing rate of 75 percent and the eligible investment can not be smaller than €100 000.

The duration of the projects should not exceed 30 months.
