A partnership of three NGOs in Romania launched a new project, CDMiR4Ukraine, aiming to raise awareness of human rights and the need for the equal treatment of refugees who have fled Ukraine.
The organisations, Novapolis Association - Center for Analyzes and Initiatives for Development, the Romanian National Council for Refugees, and the Center for Public Innovation launched the project with a grant of €199 900 from the EEA Grants 2014 - 2021, through the Active Citizens Fund in Romania. It will run from March 2023 - March 2024.
The project's main activities target primarily refugees: it will coordinate an awareness raising campaign on human rights, gender equality & gender-based violence, and offer specific employment facilitation measures for those looking for jobs. It aims to provide 2 000 refugees who have fled Ukraine services and informative materials regarding their socio-economic rights in Romania. There will also be advocacy actions to improve the integration prospects of people with temporary protection, such as some designed around the implementation of the national plan of measures for the protection of people displaced from Ukraine, and capacity building actions - such as training and partnership opportunities - for public authorities, civil society and other stakeholders.
CDMiR4Ukraine works to ensure the continuity of human rights promotion and advocacy efforts for beneficiaries of international protection initiated in 2017 by CDMiR (the Coalition for Migrants’ and Refugees’ Rights), with specific focus on refugees who have fled Ukraine and their needs. CDMiR brings together 23 non-governmental organisations, being the only coalition of Romanian civil society active in the field of migration, asylum and integration.
