Portuguese flag

The High Commission for Migration in Portugal is now accepting funding applications for initiatives promoting the integration of migrants, refugees or beneficiaries of international protection in Portugal, and third country nationals (TCNs) with legal residence in the country or who are at the stage of obtaining the right of legal residence.

This funding opportunity is made available through the EU’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). The total amount available is € 700 000.

Eligible projects will focus on:

  • Awareness/information actions aimed at clarifying and supporting TCNs in their integration into the host society, as well as the editing and publication of informational materials focusing on themes that contribute to the integration of TCNs, or to the enhancement of interculturality, namely in the context of the COVID 19 pandemic;
  • Promotion of non-formal education actions such as Portuguese language actions with a view to certification, literacy actions aimed at providing participants with reading and writing skills in Portuguese, and integrated actions of cultural orientation combined with the teaching of the Portuguese language;
  • Establishment of multidisciplinary and multilingual teams aimed at providing advice and assistance in areas such as housing, livelihoods, administrative procedures, health care, psychological and social support, assistance to minors and family reunification in close coordination with the various local public and private structures;
  • Municipal plans for the integration of migrants: these are instruments that incorporate the concerted action strategies of the different entities that work in the area of migration at the local level.

Approved projects may benefit from a maximum co-financing rate of 75%. The duration of the projects should not exceed 24 months. Applications cannot present a total eligible investment of less than € 60 000, and the projects to be funded must begin no later than 15 September, 2021.

The deadline for submission of applications is 2 August 2021. Find further information about requirements and applications online.
