Portugal: Funding call for initiatives promoting intercultural dialogue and informal education

The High Commission for Migration in Portugal is now accepting funding applications for initiatives promoting the integration of third-country nationals (TCNs) and beneficiaries of temporary international protection, in the fields of language, religion and intercultural dialogue. Applications must present a total eligible investment of more than € 60 000.00.

This funding opportunity is made available through the EU’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). The total amount available under the call is € 1 250 000.00.

Eligible projects will focus on:

  • actions to promote and/or support active integration measures (e.g., sociocultural activities and/or artistic projects, identification of vulnerable situations, etc.); 
  • delivery of information/awareness sessions, appreciation of diversity, intercultural and interreligious dialogue (e.g., information sessions aimed at potential employers; local co-creation sessions for the mobilisation of citizens, civil society organisations, municipalities, parish councils, other enterprises); 
  • promotion of informal education (e.g., Portuguese language classes, literacy, cultural orientation); 
  • creation of multidisciplinary and multilingual teams to provide counselling and assistance to migrants (e.g., housing, basic needs coverage, language, access to health care, psychological support, etc.).

Approved projects may benefit from a maximum co-financing rate of 75%, and the duration of eligible projects should not exceed 24 months. Projects must be set to begin no later than 2 January 2023.
