Poland: Public consultations on education for children displaced from Ukraine

Flag of Poland

The Ministry of National Education in Poland launched public consultations on the government programme for equalising educational opportunities for children and youth from Ukraine, School for All.

The consultations concern 3 current and upcoming academic years: 2024/2025, 2025/2026, and 2026/2027. The aim of the School for All programme is "to support children and youth who are citizens of Ukraine, including those of Roma origin and with disabilities, in functioning within the Polish education system". It is designed for children who arrived in Poland after the onset of Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

The programme is structured into 3 modules:

  • Module I - Intercultural assistant: funding for the employment of an intercultural assistant for a period of 12 months, provided that at least one Ukrainian student attends the school.
  • Module II - Wellbeing of the school community: various forms of support for Ukrainian students, their parents, school staff, and integration with peers, aimed at improving their wellbeing.
  • Module III - Professional development of educational staff: training for educational staff aimed at preparing them to work in multicultural classrooms, in order to effectively integrate Ukrainian students, equalise their educational opportunities and build open and supportive school environments.

The programme will run until 31 August 31 2027, with a budget of PLN 500 million (approximately EUR 116 million).

Consultation comments can be submitted until 24 December 2024 by completing the relevant feedback form and sending it to program.sdw@men.gov.pl.
