Poland's Ministry of the Interior and Administration, in partnership with the Polish Red Cross and the Polish Centre for International Aid Foundation, launched the 'Together to Independence' project. The project aims to support and promote the independence of Ukrainian citizens under temporary protection who are leaving collective accommodation centres.
In total, the project will assist 6 000 people. Participation is conditional upon having a UKR PESEL number and residing in a collective accommodation centre. NGOs are responsible for identifying project beneficiaries and providing them with direct support, while the Ministry of the Interior and Administration will coordinate the project.
The offer of support from the project includes financial assistance, the help of an integration assistant, assistance in finding accommodation and employment, career counselling, Polish language courses, and cultural and integration activities. Project beneficiaries will also be provided with extensive information on how to navigate Polish society, such as how to access health care and social security.
The project is 90% co-financed by the European Commission under the 'Specific Action MS under Pressure - Support for Ukraine' programme, with over PLN 84 million (almost EUR 20 million). The project will run until 31 March 2026.
