The National Council just adopted the new qualifications recognition and skills assessment law which will facilitate foreigners' access to the Austrian labour market.
Essential content of the new law include:
- the right for assessment of foreign educational and professional qualifications
- alternative methods for determining the qualifications of persons entitled to asylum and subsidiary protection, if documents cannot be provided (eg. by practical or theoretical tests, work samples, etc.)
- a recognition portal containing guidance and specific information on competent authorities, documentation, costs, etc.
- a comprehensive consulting service through the establishment of advisory bodies by the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection
