The number of unemployed migrants and Dutch of foreign origin is so high that a new fund, the national integration fund, has been set up to promote diversity at the work place. Statistics provided by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) show that unemployment of foreigners (and Dutch with a foreign origin) is much higher in the Netherlands than in European countries coping with much higher general unemployment rates, such as France, Italy and Spain.
The new fund is an employer's initiative to research different aspects of
diversity and integration in the workplace.
