A new fund, the Oranje Fonds, has been made available in the Netherlands for young people aged under 27 years who are active within a youth organisation and want to organise a new activity or project. All young citizens, including legally-resident third-country nationals, can apply.
Oranje Fonds supports different types of projects that promote social cohesion and inclusion across the country, and eligibility is broad. Examples include:
- neighbourhood activities bringing together young people from different social groups (e.g. including migrants);
- setting up a group for LGBTQI+ young people;
- setting up a project where young people help each other;
- projects wherein young people work to help the elderly;
- other projects that contribute to society and are meaningful to people.
Eligible projects can be granted up to 2 500 euros. If young people are applying as a group without affiliation with an already-established 'official' organisation, the group must comprise a minimum of three individuals, at least one of whom is 18 years old. In addition, it is important that those who apply do so as volunteer(s). The full list of eligibility criteria can be found here.
