The press office of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum in Greece announced that the ESTIA housing programme - the latest edition of which was initiated in October 2021 - is closing at the end of 2022. The main goal of the programme is to ensure an adequate standard of living for applicants for international protection in Greece, through the provision of essential accommodation and support services.

Thousands of people are being supported by the EU-funded programme. Overall, since its launch in November 2015, it has ensured the provision of support to 93 000 people. From September - November 2022, it offered 10 363 places in 1 683 apartments and 76 rooms across 9 buildings, in 19 cities in Greece.
