The American College of Greece, in collaboration with the US Embassy in Greece, is offering scholarships to refugee, migrant and displaced students for undergraduate and graduate studies. Scholarships for 2023, provided through the Education Unites programme (now in its sixth year), were granted to more than 40 people in total, including 20 reserved specifically for people with refugee status from Ukraine.
Collaboration between these two actors began in 2018 with the "Education Unites: From camp to campus" programme, which initially offered 200 scholarships to refugees and migrants in Athens and Thessaloniki. In the following academic year it offered 100 scholarships to such students, and after that 20 scholarships per year. In 2022, in response to the educational needs of people displaced from Ukraine arriving in Greece, it established the Ukrainian Student Programme, offering 20 additional scholarships to refugee students from Ukraine, and this is now repeated in 2023. The cost of both semesters of the 2023 university year are covered by the scholarships, as well as summer courses. Further details on application processes and eligibility requirements can be found on the website of the American College of Greece.
