Generation 2.0 RED, the Social Hackers Academy and the International Rescue Committee are launching a free Coding School for asylum seekers and refugees or EU citizens who have been unemployed for at least 12 months. The course is targeted at individuals who are passionate about web development and proficient English speakers. Students who attend the course will receive completion certificates of each programming language. The Full Web Development Course consists of the following modules:
- Introduction to HTML/CSS
- Front-End Development
- Back-End Development
- Advanced Front-End Development
- Full Stack Project
The Social Hackers Academy will provide computers to successful candidates who do not possess a personal computer for the 6,5 months of the training. During this period, students are expected to study approximately 15-20 hours per week and will attend 155 hours of classes which include:
- 1 class per week from 18:00 to 22:30 (dinner is provided)
- 24/7 support to students through Slack by 17 volunteer developers
- 20 hours of Introduction to HTML/CSS module
- Private one on one lessons are also a choice for those wishing it.
In addition to acquiring in-depth knowledge of a high in demand skill in the market, successful candidates will be assigned a business coach from ICF (International Coaching Federation), a LinkedIn coach to help them build a professional online profile and a career coach to guide them through job interview preparation, soft skills development etc.
