Greece: New pilot project teaches Greek culture and history to refugees

Flag of Greece

The European Commission's Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund is financing a new pilot project that promotes integration in Greece.

The project, Multaka - meaning 'meeting point' in English - offers intercultural tours of Athens, giving refugees and other migrants the chance to better understand Greek culture and history. It began in June 2022 and will end in June 2023, sustained by funding comprising 75% EU funds and 25% national funds. Tours are offered in Greek, English, French, Arabic and Farsi.

The project is also running participatory video workshops, where short videos will be created based on the experiences of project participants. These videos will be shown at a national-level conference, where the project's results and the possibilities it offers for expansion to other places will be discussed.
